What is SolveCon?
SolveCon is a youth-focused gathering designed to bring together young changemakers, innovators, and community leaders to learn, collaborate, and take action on real-world challenges.
Organised by Reap Benefit, SolveCon moves beyond the format of a traditional conference. Instead of passive listening, participants actively engage through workshops, discussions, showcases, and collaborative problem-solving sessions that encourage learning by doing.
The event creates a shared space where students, educators, creators, and grassroots leaders come together to exchange ideas, build networks, and explore pathways toward social and civic impact. Participants are not positioned as audiences, but as contributors — individuals capable of initiating change within their own communities.

Designing Movement, Dialogue & Discovery
At its core, SolveCon is about finding direction through exploration - discovering ideas, people, and pathways that enable young changemakers to take action.
This philosophy informed our central design metaphor: the maze.
A maze represents both uncertainty and possibility — paths that intersect, diverge, and reconnect. Participants are encouraged to navigate challenges, ask questions, and ultimately carve their own path forward. The design language invited exploration rather than instruction, reinforcing the idea that SolveCon is not about providing answers, but enabling young people to discover them.
The journey began well before the physical event through a social media campaign designed to spark intrigue and anticipation. The visual system was intentionally flexible, allowing it to shift between playful energy and thoughtful seriousness — reflecting the diverse nature of SolveCon itself.
Across announcements, informational content, and hype-driven posts, the campaign established a recognizable yet evolving identity that introduced participants to the experience before they arrived.

Bringing SolveCon to Life
The next phase translated concept into space.
SolveCon was hosted at PES University, making spatial understanding a critical starting point. Mapping the venue meant studying how participants would move, gather, pause, and interact throughout the day.
Working closely with Reap Benefit, we developed spatial strategies that balanced openness with navigation — carefully planning entry points, circulation paths, and crowd flow to support both structured sessions and spontaneous interaction.

The visual language then evolved from graphics into physical experience. Every touchpoint was designed to reinforce the energy of SolveCon — from entry installations and environmental graphics to brochures and navigational elements.
Together, these interventions transformed the venue into an environment that encouraged discovery, conversation, and participation — ensuring that the spirit of SolveCon was not only communicated visually, but felt experientially.

Why did LastBench do it?
Having done a film for Reap Benefit last year, we already had an established relationship with the team and understood them fairly well. So it seemed serendipitous that they asked us to do this as we were building our design vertical. Reap had a not-so-stellar experience working with another studio when it came to this event design, and then asked us if we could take over and start from scratch again - and the rest is history.
SolveCon was one of our biggest event design so far - and it's been an incredible experience being Reap's extended creative team and bringing this to life.
